We are still catching the speckled trout! Tripp and David released a few nice fish today but they said the bite was slow. Our buddy Cole was able to catch his limit today and half of one with his dad today. I guess I will have to get off the hill and get back to fishing tomorrow. Good friend Al Davis tested the waters at the gulf stream this week and caught nice Wahoo. One was in the 90’s and another in the 80’s. He also had some smaller ones. We will hopefully be out there soon, give us a call. 910-540-7332
The backwater is hot. We finished top 5 in the CY’s inshore tournament on Saturday and had some fun fishing on Sunday. We caught fish anywhere from 3-4.5 pounds. Here is Tripp with his second citation of the weekend, a 7.8 pound speckled trout. I will keep tryin for mine. Give us a call for you Holden Beach Fishing Charter.
Tripp took a couple of family members fishing today and they whooped up on the trout. They were lucky enough to pull out a black and red drum as well today. The best trout was 4.2 fingers crossed for a citation in the future! Let’s go fish give us a call!
I had the pleasure of guiding my grandpa and some of his college friends Wednesday on a quick backwater trip. Despite the cold and light rain we tried our luck at some trout because I thought the cold front would cause them to bite, sure enough they did. I returned yesterday to try my luck and they were chewing! Let’s go trout fish! Call us for your Holden Beach Fishing Charter.
This weekend was full of excitement as The Black Pearl and the 229 flats boat competed in the local Fall Brawl. The Pearl had a couple fish and ended up weighing a 26.85 for the day. The 229 had a couple of good missed strikes but ended the day with a 27.60. Great day with great people. The bite is super hot right now, let’s go fishing! Call us!
We have been slammed and have not kept you all updated on our tournaments this year. The last two we fished were the 1st Annual Shallotte Point KMT at the local Inlet View. We had a placed second with a 35 pound Kingfish, while doubling up with another respectable mid 20’s fish.
This past weekend we fished one of the biggest King Mackerel tournaments on the east coast, the US Open KMT just up the road in Southport. There was somewhere in the neighborhood of 470 boats. We did not do too hot but had a great time with friends and family.
We will be fishing 3 local tournaments this weekend and next before departing for SKA Nationals in Biloxi, Mississippi. We wrapped up the SKA season 1st in our division for top 3 fish of 23 boats. We would like to thank Howard Poe for putting on the Shallotte Point KMT, Inlet View for their hospitality, and The Southern Kingfish Association. We would also like to thank Mercury Marine for supporting us by getting us to the fish!
Got out on the Shallotte River and just cruised. It will be trout time soon! Here’s a picture of tonight’s sunset
The afternoon report is not as amazing as we had hoped for, the backwater spot we were hitting only produced Bluefish today. Here’s a picture of something you always should remember to do: CLEAN YOUR REELS!
