Weekend Wrap Up

I ran a couple of trips over the weekend, and caught some very nice flounder and redfish. The water is heating up to the high 60s and rapidly rising. Large striper minnows have showed up on the sandbars at low tide and those are they key to getting bigger flounder and redfish to bite. On the other hand, its a shock how many spots are in our waters right now. It has been a cold spring until the past week, and that has turned all kinds of fish on. The gulf stream fishing is also heating up with water temps around 75 in the Steeples area. The next couple of weeks should start to improve both inshore and offshore! More Inshore Action!

Had the pleasure of guiding Larry, Dale, and Abbie for a half day inshore trip. Redfish and Black Drum were the deal today! We caught 4 keeper Black Drum, a few throwbacks, a beautiful just under-slot red,  quite a few croakers and even some spots. Had a great time and look forward to seeing them again! Backwater Fishing is heating up!

Yesterday I had the privilege of guiding Doctor Martin and his son Shaun on a 4 hour backwater trip. It started off a little slow, but after we found the fish, we couldn’t keep a bait in the water! We caught many black drum, keeping 6 for a good family dinner. We also caught redfish, and our first flounder of the year! Call 910-540-7332 for your Holden Beach Fishing Charter today!

4 Hour Action

Had a great group of guys join me this morning for a 4 hour inshore trip. It started off slow, but we finished on a good note! We caught a nice Bluefish immediately followed by a beautiful 21 inch speckled trout! Also lost a few reds to the dock. Had a great time with these guys and look forward to fishing with them again in the future! Call 910-540-7332 for an Ocean Isle or Holden Beach Fishing Charter.

Inshore Report

Today started out at 38 degrees and a 25 mph NE wind. I had a tough group of guys determined to catch some fish. We moved to several places before finding a great stock of redfish mainly 22-25 inches. We caught many fish with several in the upper slot. The water has cooled off some more to 51 but that should rise after the warm week ahead of us. There have also been quite a few black drum in the area with a few trout mixed in. Now is a good time to go fishing! Call us today for your Ocean Isle, or Holden Beach Inshore Charter. 910-540-7332

More Inshore Action!

Over the weekend, I had an outing with Hunter Kendall and Brian Richard. We noticed the water temperatures have cooled back off to 53 degrees but that did not stop the fish from chewing. It was a really slow/dead bite around the high tide but as soon as it started falling the bite was on! We caught over 30 fish with most of them being upper slot redfish. Many of these fish were caught on mud minnows and bass assassin lures. There were also quite a few black drum mixed in. These fish all came off of cut shrimp. At the end of the day, we caught some trout in the concrete canals on topwater lures. Ocean Isle Beach Fishing Charters are coming up soon! Spring and warm weather are right around the corner, so call 910-540-7332 to reserve your spot.

Holden Beach Inshore Fishing is on fire

The backwater is heating up along with the temperatures! Saw very good numbers of black drum today catching over 20 fish. We also had many redfish which are still shallow but much more active. It is a great time to go fishing right now! Call now for your Holden Beach Fishing Charter! 910-540-7332

Winter Redfish

The water temperatures are warming up and we are seeing the fish to become a lot more active. The redfish are swimming around in good numbers and averaging 15-24 inches. Got out for a couple of hours yesterday and got on a few. The water temperature was 58 degrees. We are going to see improvements both backwater and offshore over the next month. Backwater & Offshore Report

The crew fished for a little while this morning just to test the waters for some redfish. We moved around before hitting some small ones. No slots this trip, but still was a lot of fun. It might be cold but we can put you on them! Call 910-540-7332 for your Holden Beach Inshore charter.

In other news, the offshore bite is still lit up red hot. Had some friends of the “Rats Azz” with Capt. Brad Wood catch this 102 pound stud of a Wahoo. That will be a pretty citation to hang on the wall. They also reported three other very nice fish with a 278 pound aggregate with four fish, with one in the 70’s, 50’s and high 40’s. If you can get a pretty day, it will probably be worth the time and effort.
